Gender Analysis & Action Plan

Brazil, Indonesia, Ecuador, and Peru

Rainforest Alliance

The Business Case for Collective Landscape Action represents a pioneering approach to overcoming barriers hindering collaboration among key stakeholders in support of conservation and livelihood priorities. Operating in representative landscapes in Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Indonesia, this initiative strives for sustainable solutions through field implementation and regional engagement. The project's commitment to gender and social inclusion is embedded in its core, recognizing the significance of diverse perspectives in shaping effective interventions.

Our consultancy aimed to conduct a comprehensive Gender and Social Inclusion Assessment, focusing on four key objectives. We gathered baseline data, identified priority issues in each landscape, recommended monitoring strategies, and provided actionable insights to enhance the overall Gender and Social Inclusion Strategy.

Our approach went beyond acknowledging inequalities, focusing on understanding the dynamics of exclusion and the unique needs of diverse groups. To ensure the success of the Business Case, we emphasized a multifactorial, intersectional approach. Our methodology unfolded in three strategic steps. First, a thorough review of project documents and partner strategies informed the Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) methodology. Second, a comprehensive literature review and secondary data analysis identified global and national priorities, guiding stakeholder consultations. Finally, limited yet insightful stakeholder consultations were conducted, offering a nuanced understanding of gender and social inclusion dynamics within the project.
