At EarthEmpower Consulting, we create significant change through strategic partnerships. In collaboration with IsraAID, we launched the "Urban Gardens for COVID-19 Resilience" project in La Dignidad, Guatemala. The project aimed to support families affected by the Fuego volcano tragedy and the economic hardships caused by the pandemic by strengthening food security and enhancing community resilience.
We trained 19 women in urban agricultural production techniques, helping them establish urban gardens to produce vegetables for family consumption. Our team adapted urban garden kits to local conditions and provided tailored technical support through phone calls, SMS, in-person visits, and educational materials. In addition, we offered business resilience training to female heads of households and microbusiness owners, helping them adapt and sustain their businesses during the pandemic. We included husbands in the business resilience training to foster inclusive community involvement.
Through this project, we empowered women to improve their livelihoods, enhance food security, and build long-term family resilience. EarthEmpower’s efforts have strengthened local food production and supported the economic sustainability of microbusinesses in La Dignidad, Guatemala.
